A little taste of Orgran

Last week I received a package in the post containing some free Orgran goodies for me to sample. I haven't seen these in the supermarket aisles however I know some of the specialist stores such as Real Foods stock them.

Along with the samples was some blurb about the benefits of Orgran as some of their products are made from Buckwheat which in actual fact isn't wheat but from the rhubarb family (I love rhubarb!). Just to put the record straight up front though none of the products taste of rhubarb! Anyway, onto the sampling...

The first product which caught my eye was tinned spaghetti as it made me reminisce of a wee treat now and then of Heinz tinned spaghetti on toast. Not something I used to have very often (as it kinda bucks my motto of eating fresh) but something I would have now and then as a quick lunchtime treat. These days the main things that comes out of a tin are baked beans, kidney beans, barlotti beans...pretty much just beans!

Little cook was a tad amused at the idea of tinned spaghetti. Since a jar/tin of baby food never passed her lips I never really thought about buying anything like tinned spaghetti.

Two plates were served up, just the right amount on each slice of toast. The spaghetti had a very different texture, quite firm unlike the squidgy stuff I remember. The taste was also very good and again not quite like I remember. Both Little Cook and I quickly had the lot scoffed.

A quick online search shows that you can buy this product in Sainsbury's for £1.09, obviously more expensive than normal brands but what you would expect. At that price it would make a nice treat once in a while and I can see me picking it up next time I am in Sainsbury's.
