Practise practise practise!
Well now that I am going to actually be on the show it's time to get serious with my dish! The producers were so taken with my shortbread and thought it was a waste to put it as a base, so I have taken their advice and put it on the side. But how to serve my mousse? Well after various attempts at making a chocolate cup I had a flash of inspiration and thought I would try balloons. Normal balloons were too large (I don't want a big massive wide cup) so I opted to use small water balloons. As you can imagine, February is not really balloon fight weather in Scotland so with a little searching a found a source and forked out a whole 45p for a bag of them.
Crazy thing is, when you go online there are tons of videos on using balloons! I had no idea.
Anyway balloon and pump in hand I blew up a few, got the chocolate melted and hey presto...baskets a plenty. I couldn't wait for the chocolate to dry so I could see if they would work...and they did! I am so chuffed with the quirky method and I am sure it will look really fun on TV :-)
I now need to put some extra effort in perfecting the shortbread. I am no longer making it in a tin, therefore the cooking times have changed and I am having problems with it spreading out. I want it to keep its lovely round shape.
I have three weeks left to perfect it...watch this space...
