Lazy lovely Saturday mornings...

Saturday mornings are a bit of a treat in our house with lie-ins and late breakfasts (apart from poor Craig who usually has a footie match to go to). The highlight of the morning is usually breakfast where tradition is boiled egg and soldiers or bacon butties, closely followed by lovely warm homemade pancakes. I love pancakes, they are so easy to make yet always seem like a real treat.

There is a bit of a divide in our house when it comes to pancakes, some like big thin pancakes that they can roll up, others like little thick pancakes and of course there is the big debate over choice of topping; syrup or jam! At the moment with jars upon jars of homemade jam in the house it is a clear favourite.

Consistancy of the mixture comes with practice and over time you get a 'feel' for it. Big thin pancakes need a runny consistancy wheras thick 'American style' pancakes warrant a thicker mixture. As they say, practice makes perfect!
Once you have eaten your pancakes all that is usually left is to wipe up sticky jam and syrup from the kitchen table! It doesn't seem to matter how big you make the pancakes, kids (and adults) seem to get sticky toppings everywhere :-S
