River Cottage Treat

Well for those of you don't know me, Hugh Fearley Whittingstall is my culinary hero. In fact, to be honest he is my all-time all round hero. His philosophy to life and cooking is one I aspire to have (hence posts of veggie patches and chooks!).

I was asked the day before my birthday "If I won the lottery what would I buy? " My answer "River Cottage". Well the next day I didn't get River Cottage wrapped up in a red bow but I got something almost as good; a trip to River Cottage and a one day cookery course. I was overwhelmed/excited/ecstatic/shocked and just downright chuffed that I got (in my opinion) the best Birthday present ever!

I am off to River Cottage soon (and for those of you who do know me you will be glad I am off to River Cottage soon!). Since my Birthday I've been quietly counting sleeps and getting more and more excited as it draws nearer.

Choosing the course was tricky. Juggling work/four kids and the course dates was no mean feat but I have chosen this one:

Three go Mad

It wasn't actually called this when I booked it (It was called 'One day cookery course!") but they've obviously glammed it up a bit. There was a choice of a gluten-free cookery course but since I like to take 'normal' recipes and play around with them I opted for this one.

I can't wait to wander in the garden, scavenge down the beach, take photos with my lovely camera (also a present) and ultimately enjoy the cooking and dining experience. My idea of heaven.

I look forward to writing about my experience and will hopefully have lots of memories from my wee adventure down to Devon.

  1. I've just had notification that there will be filming on the day (not of us though). Fingers crosses Hugh is there and I get to meet him!
